Dear Conference Visitors,
Dear Readers,

In line with the expectations of the EDR community, after a forced break of two years, personal meetings, professional exchanges and friendly discussions could again take place at the 13th Professional Telecommunication Day (EDR Day) conference and exhibition organized by Pro-M Zrt. on May 5, 2022.

The framework to all this was provided for the representatives of the Service Provider, the Ministry of the Interior, the owner NISZ Zrt., the user organizations involved in emergency communication in Hungary, the crucial system elements using EDR for emergency communication, the upper threshold hazardous plants and national-reach public utilities, by the extremely diverse plenary programs rich in professional content, the 5 parallel section meetings, and the traditional displays of our suppliers, which this year accommodated a wider circle of exhibitors and some 15 stands, as well as a demonstration of the special vehicles of the emergency organizations.

We heard a total of 39 talks at the conference.
At the plenary sessions, in addition to the presentations of the EDR government communications service provider, talks were given by representatives of the emergency services (NAV, Parliamentary Guard, BVOP) and foreign professional organizations (TCCA CCBG, 3GPP) as well as by the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the BME. The 5 parallel sections reviewed the current situation and development directions of the emergency PPDR systems, devices and applications.
The emergency readiness section focused on the use of smart systems and law enforcement control activities, specialist systems, as well as on the use of the EDR by the OMSZ (National Ambulance Service), the Parliamentary Guard, the National Directorate of Alien Policing, and the NAV (Tax Office).
The critical infrastructure section gave an insight into the EDR use of MVM, Magyar Közút Nonprofit Közhasznú Nyrt, Debrecen International Airport and NÉBIH.
In the section on broadband and new service directions, the participants reviewed broadband application needs, the tools that implement them, the broadband infrastructure supporting PPDR systems, as well as image capture and image transmission solutions.
Besides the TETRA system and the classic TETRA device suppliers and solutions, the supplier section also dealt with PPDR applications for satellite and drone technology.
The international section provided an opportunity for an exchange of experiences by suppliers, developers and users from Germany, Finland, Belgium and Austria, and to review development directions for the information needs of emergency services.

It is our intention to make available the materials of the talks and presentations to conference participants and interested readers.

We thank all the participants for contributing with their presence, talks and knowledge exchanged in the framework of the professional discussions, to the success of our event, which was also designed to mark the anniversary of the over 15 years of operation of Pro-M Zrt.

Sincerely,

dr. Ferenc Balla
